Jacket — Playlist Cover Maker

1. Introduction

Playlist Jacket, operated by William Brand (“Playlist Jacket,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), provides the Jacket — Playlist Cover Maker mobile application (the “App”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how that information is used, when information may be processed by third-party service providers, and the choices available to you.

Jacket is designed to operate primarily on your device. You do not need to create a Playlist Jacket account, and we do not operate a Playlist Jacket backend that receives or stores your playlist library, imported photos, or cover projects.

2. Information the App Accesses

2.1 Apple Music information

If you choose to connect Apple Music, Jacket requests your permission through Apple’s MusicKit framework.

After permission is granted, the App may access limited information from your Apple Music library, including:

Playlist names and descriptions
Playlist identifiers
Track and artist information associated with your playlists
Track counts
Playlist artwork and artist artwork
Other playlist metadata needed to display your library and create cover artwork

Jacket uses this information to display your playlists, populate cover templates, and offer artist-inspired cover designs.

Jacket does not access or store the audio files contained in your music library.

Apple Music access is optional. You may use Jacket to create a standalone cover or a cover intended for Spotify without connecting Apple Music.

2.2 Photos and images

When you choose to import one of your own images, Apple’s photo picker allows you to select the specific image you want to use.

The selected image may be:

Cropped or resized
Used as a cover background
Edited with text, blur, overlays, and visual effects
Stored within Jacket’s local app storage so that you can continue editing the project

Jacket does not automatically scan or upload your entire photo library.

When you choose “Save to Photos,” the App requests permission to add the completed cover image to your photo library. Jacket does not need full photo-library access merely to save an exported image.

2.3 Cover projects and app preferences

Information created while using Jacket may include:

Cover designs
Imported images
Generated thumbnails
Playlist names used in designs
Text entered into a cover
Font, color, layout, rotation, and effect selections
Template selections
App settings and onboarding status
Cached playlist metadata

This information is stored locally on your device using Apple-provided storage technologies.

2.4 Unsplash searches and images

Jacket may allow you to search for and download photographs provided through the Unsplash API.

When you use this feature:

Your search terms are transmitted to Unsplash
Requests for search results and images are transmitted to Unsplash
Unsplash may receive technical request information, such as your IP address and device or network information
Information about the selected image may be used to display the required photographer attribution

We do not intentionally associate your Unsplash searches with your name, email address, or a Playlist Jacket account.

Unsplash processes information according to its own privacy policy.

2.5 Subscription and purchase information

Jacket offers optional in-app purchases and subscriptions through Apple’s App Store.

Apple processes payments and may provide Jacket or its subscription service provider with information such as:

Product purchased
Subscription status
Trial status
Renewal and expiration dates
Transaction and receipt information
Purchase history
Refund or cancellation status

We do not receive or store your full payment-card number, banking information, or Apple Account password.

Jacket uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, manage subscription entitlements, restore purchases, and understand the performance of subscription offerings.

RevenueCat may process:

Purchase and subscription history
A pseudonymous or anonymous App User ID
Device or app identifiers
Subscription entitlement status
Product and paywall interactions
App version, operating-system version, and similar technical information
Network information required to communicate with its services

RevenueCat may use this information for app functionality, purchase validation, fraud prevention, subscription analytics, and related operational purposes.

RevenueCat processes information according to its own privacy policy.

2.6 Support communications

If you contact us by email, we may receive:

Your email address
Your name, when included
The contents of your message
Screenshots, files, or diagnostic information you voluntarily provide

We use this information only to respond to your request, investigate problems, provide support, and improve the App.

Please do not send sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your support request.

3. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

Jacket does not require a Playlist Jacket account.

We do not intentionally collect through the App:

Your contacts or address book
Precise location information
Health information
Biometric information
Government identification numbers
Your music or audio files
Your full payment-card or banking information
Your Spotify account credentials
Your Spotify playlists or account information
Information for third-party advertising
Information for cross-app or cross-website behavioral tracking

The current version of Jacket does not sign you into Spotify or directly access your Spotify account. Covers intended for Spotify are saved to your device, and the App provides instructions for applying them manually.

4. How We Use Information

Information accessed or processed through Jacket is used to:

Display Apple Music playlists you have authorized the App to access
Display relevant playlist, track, and artist information
Create and customize playlist cover artwork
Save projects locally on your device
Import user-selected photos
Search for and download Unsplash images
Export completed cover artwork
Save completed artwork to your photo library
Enable, validate, and restore subscriptions
Determine whether Premium features should be unlocked
Analyze subscription and paywall performance
Provide customer support
Maintain the App’s security and functionality
Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your playlist information or imported photos to build advertising profiles.

5. Local Storage and Data Retention

Most information used by Jacket is stored locally on your device rather than on servers operated by Playlist Jacket.

Local information may remain on your device until you:

Delete an individual project
Delete an imported image or design through the App, where that option is available
Clear the App’s data
Delete the App from your device

Deleting Jacket generally removes information stored inside the App’s local storage. Images that you previously exported to your photo library must be deleted separately through the Photos app.

Deleting the App does not automatically delete records retained independently by Apple, RevenueCat, Unsplash, or your email provider. Those services maintain information according to their own retention policies and legal obligations.

Support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, maintain support records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and comply with legal requirements.

6. Third-Party Services

Jacket relies on third-party services to provide certain features.

Apple and MusicKit

Apple handles Apple Music authorization, access to your music library, App Store purchases, subscription billing, and photo-library permissions.

Your use of Apple services is also governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy.

RevenueCat

RevenueCat provides subscription validation, entitlement management, purchase restoration, and subscription-related analytics.

Unsplash

Unsplash provides searchable photographs that may be used as cover backgrounds. Search terms, image requests, and associated technical request data are transmitted to Unsplash when you use this feature.

Spotify

Jacket does not currently connect to Spotify or transmit information to Spotify on your behalf. If you leave Jacket and use the Spotify app or website to apply a cover, your interaction with Spotify is governed by Spotify’s own terms and privacy policy.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of Apple, RevenueCat, Unsplash, and any other third-party services you choose to use.

7. How We Share Information

We may disclose information only in the following circumstances:

Service providers

Information may be processed by Apple, RevenueCat, Unsplash, email providers, and other vendors when necessary to deliver the features you request.

Legal requirements

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
Protect our rights, users, or the public
Investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our terms
Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

Business changes

If Playlist Jacket is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing, asset sale, or similar transaction, relevant business records may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable privacy requirements.

8. Sale, Advertising, and Tracking

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, or third-party marketing.

Jacket does not display third-party advertisements and does not use the Apple advertising identifier to track your activity across apps or websites.

Subscription providers may process purchase, identifier, and product-interaction information for subscription functionality and analytics. This processing is not used by Playlist Jacket to serve behavioral advertising.

9. Your Choices and Controls

Apple Music access

You can revoke Jacket’s Apple Music permission through your device’s privacy settings for Media & Apple Music.

After permission is revoked, Jacket will no longer be able to retrieve updated information from your Apple Music library.

Photo permissions

You can review or change Jacket’s Photos permission through your device’s privacy settings.

Local projects

You can delete saved projects within the App where deletion controls are provided. You may also remove all locally stored App data by deleting Jacket from your device.

Subscriptions

You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings.

Deleting the App does not automatically cancel an active subscription.

Support information

You may contact us to request deletion or correction of personal information contained in support communications that we control, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.

10. Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information, including the right to:

Request confirmation that personal information is being processed
Request access to personal information
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of information
Object to or restrict certain processing
Withdraw consent
Request information about service providers or data sharing
Request portability where applicable
Submit a complaint to a data-protection authority

Because Jacket does not maintain user accounts or a server-side database of playlist projects, much of your information can be controlled directly on your device.

Requests relating to data independently controlled by Apple, RevenueCat, Unsplash, Spotify, or another provider should generally be submitted directly to that provider.

Residents of California may also request information concerning applicable categories of personal information. Playlist Jacket does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Residents of Brazil may exercise applicable rights under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados, including confirmation, access, correction, deletion, anonymization, portability, information about sharing, and withdrawal of consent where applicable.

11. Legal Bases for Processing

Where a legal basis is required, we process information based on one or more of the following:

Consent: when you authorize Apple Music access, select an image, grant photo permission, or otherwise choose to use an optional feature
Performance of a contract: when processing is necessary to provide the App, Premium features, purchases, or support you requested
Legitimate interests: when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve the App and understand subscription performance
Legal obligations: when processing is required to comply with applicable law

You may withdraw permission for optional device resources through your device settings.

12. International Processing

Apple, RevenueCat, Unsplash, and other service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Where required, these providers use contractual, organizational, or legal safeguards for international transfers. Their individual privacy policies provide additional information about their transfer practices.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information we control.

Jacket benefits from security features provided by Apple platforms, including app sandboxing, device encryption, permission controls, and secure App Store payment processing.

However, no device, application, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device and Apple Account.

14. Children’s Privacy

Jacket is not directed to children under 13, and the App is rated for users aged 13 and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support communication, contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Jacket, third-party services, legal requirements, or our privacy practices.

When the policy is updated, we will revise the Effective Date displayed at the top. Material changes may also be communicated through the App, the App Store listing, or our website where appropriate.

Your continued use of Jacket after an updated policy becomes effective means that the updated policy will apply to your future use of the App.
